Waited for an hour to pick up my rental car. I called and called the cell number of the agent. I left voicemails but ended up needing to call a taxi to pick me up. I was completely late for the meeting I traveled here for. Do not use this rental location it is a waste of time and money. You are better off using the local taxi service.
Garbage. Will never use Avis again or this outlet. First, no one was there when I showed up to get my car. Sure I was a half hour early but had to get the phone number from the Budget Rental employee. Even worse, I agreed to a price on Expedia that included the one way drop off fee. In the fine print Avis added mileage as well above the price. Hence my one day rental went from $265 to $509. I called the folks in Pierre to discuss and the employee was rude telling me how I should have read the fine print. I've rented many cars and hotel rooms through Expedia and this is the first place that added a charge above the agreed upon price. Never Avis again, never these folks in Pierre.
Met "Linda" the owner. I got a rental last minute when I saw the lack of public tran. She was very short with me and didn't answer my questions about extending or turning in early. The lady at Budget counter turned her lights on so I picked everything up and moved to her side. Linda said something and I just said " I guess not". I suggest waiting for Budget for a more pleasant experience.
Although I called during office hours, a voice mail came on and gave another number to call if the call was urgent. Since I was making reservations for my boss in a trip in a couple of days, I wanted to have this done asap, I called the alternate number and the owner, Linda was in her car. She pulled over and took down the info, after looking for a pen. This seemed a bit odd, but I went with it and asked for an email confirmation. This seemed to put her out, I was just to take her word for it. When I urged that my boss liked to have reservations confirmed and printed for him, she gave a disgruntled "Oh ok, fine, I can email you, and proceeded to write down the number, after telling me she wouldn't be in the office for 3 days!!!! Very unprofessional and will not use this location again in Pierre, South Dakota.
Overpriced reservations, location doesn't honor online pricing, charges mileage over 150 miles. Does this business own a map of South Dakota? EVERYTHING in this state is 100-300 miles away from each other. Ridiculous, and not worth time, effort or your money.
